The leading cause of death in the U.S. is heart disease, according to the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention. And Northwest Indiana, in particular, has some of the highest rates of heart disease in the state, according to the Indiana Department of Health. Improving those rates was the goal of Community Healthcare System’s recent Heart & Vascular Symposium at the Center for Performing and Visual Arts in Munster.
