Plan a Local Getaway for Summer’s Last Hurrah

It’s late August, the kids are back in school, and summer is winding down. But how about one last hurrah? Here are a few local getaways to give summer a great send-off.

Take one more summer visit to the Indiana Dunes, where you can hike, fish, watch birds, or just play in the sand. As the weather cools down (slightly!), go camping under the stars, or even just pack a picnic! Say goodbye to summer with a trip down the Glenwood Dunes Trail on horseback, or grab a canoe and explore the streams and rivers.

Looking for a quick weekend activity? Take a visit to Deep River Water Park before they close for the season on September 4! Deep River is one of the Midwest’s largest outdoor water parks, and is home to activities for all ages, including two lazy rivers. Need we say more?

Take a trip to Harvest Tyme Family Farm in Lowell to see their new Unicorn Tyme attraction. Admission includes unlimited rides on all amusement rides, encounters with over 20 animatronic unicorns, the butterfly encounter, a unicorn petting zoo, and more! Unicorn Tyme is open Saturdays and Sundays, August 26 – September 24.

No matter where you choose to spend summer’s last hurrah, Allegius has your back, with a nationwide ATM network through CO-OP Shared Branching.
