Eight Valparaiso University student-athletes earned College Sports Communicators At-Large Academic All-District honors, as announced on Tuesday.
Bowlers Isabella Palamaro (Thiells, N.Y. / North Rockland) and Lilu Smith (Gahanna, Ohio / Lincoln) and golfers Anna Fay (Ada, Mich. / Forest Hills), Roslyn Leitner (Dundee, Ill. / Harry Jacobs), Madison Keil (LaGrange, Ind. / Lakeland) and Katie Schreiner (Fenton, Mo. / Summit) achieved women’s academic all-district laurels. On the men’s side, golfers Caleb VanArragon (Blaine, Minn. / Blaine) and Anthony Delisanti (Sanborn, N.Y. / Niagara Wheatfield) were recognized.
Smith, who owns a 3.60 GPA in computer science, posted a 186.2 average this season to lead the Beacons for the third straight year. Palamaro, the owner of a 3.80 cumulative GPA in civil engineering, led Valpo on three occasions and turned in a 175.4 scoring average this year.
Fay, who possesses a perfect 4.00 cumulative GPA in bioengineering, finished the season with a career scoring average of 81.19 that currently ranks first in program history. Leitner, the owner of a 3.79 cumulative GPA, played in all nine tournaments and golfed each of the team’s 24 rounds this year. Keil, a 3.76 GPA student in exercise science, finished the season with a career scoring average of 81.44 that ranks fifth in program history. Schreiner, who has a 3.54 GPA in civil engineering, led the team with a 79.62 season scoring average, improving her scoring average from the previous season by over six strokes.
VanArragon was an NCAA Regional Qualifier and the Missouri Valley Conference Golfer of the Year after a program-record 69.62 scoring average. He posted a perfect 4.00 cumulative GPA toward both his undergraduate degree in biology and statistics and his master’s in analytics and modeling. Delisanti, who boasts a 3.92 cumulative GPA in sport management, joined VanArragon on the All-MVC First Team and was the 2024 National Golf Invitational champion. He had a 70.48 scoring average that was the second best in program history.
Men’s At-Large Academic All-Americans will be announced on Wednesday, July 17. VanArragon was a First Team Academic All-American last year and both he and Delisanti are on the ballot for Academic All-American consideration this season.
