On the morning of Wednesday, August 28, NorthShore Health Centers held the grand opening of its newest location in Crown Point. The three-story clinic, which began construction in January of last year, boasts primary care, mental health care, obstetrics and gynecology (OB/GYN), substance abuse care, pediatric, dental, vision, and chiropractic facilities.
NorthShore staff, along with representatives of organizations from across the Region, were present to help celebrate the grand opening. Indiana 1st Congressional District Representative Frank Mrvan, who was one of the speakers at the grand opening, commends NorthShore for the top-tier care it offers its patients.
“NorthShore has been instrumental in ensuring that everyone throughout the Region has access to cutting-edge healthcare services,” Mrvan said. “The opening of this location is a milestone, and I expect it to have a positive impact on the community. Like NorthShore’s other locations, this clinic will be a place where quality care and passion come together. I and my colleagues in Congress fight very hard to make sure that NorthShore and other federally-funded clinics receive the resources they need. We want to make sure that everyone has access to the healthcare services they need; we’re not leaving anyone behind.”
After watching the ribbon cutting, attendees toured the facility. NorthShore staff members were dispersed throughout the building, ready to discuss the clinic’s many features and programs with guests. Dairy-free strawberry and banana smoothie samples and brochures about the clinic’s free cooking classes were offered in the OB/GYN facility’s kitchen area. Paintings made by members of the mental health facility’s art therapy program were displayed for all to see as well. David Hall, CEO of NorthShore, feels that the newly established Crown Point facility reflects NorthShore’s values and mission.
“I hope that everyone here today will see NorthShore for what it is as they tour our new facility,” Hall said. “We provide affordable, quality healthcare, and we never skimp on the quality of our clinical care or the resources we use in our physical spaces. The NorthShore staff members are passionate about our mission, and they never waver from it. Our footprint has traditionally been situated near the northern portion of the county, so this more southern location will enable us to provide services to patients in Crown Point and Cedar Lake. It will also help support our smaller clinic in DeMotte. The establishment of this facility was very well-received by the local community, and we want to do right by them by making this clinic something they can be proud to have in their town.”
Mrvan is optimistic about the impact that the new NorthShore facility will have on the Region as a whole.
“I want to thank NorthShore’s executive board, employees and support staff for making this event possible,” Mrvan said. “We’re not here just for cutting a ribbon here today. We are showing all Northwest Indiana residents that there is opportunity for healthcare access and security here in our area. It truly is a wonderful day. The number of healthcare opportunities that NorthShore offers is limitless and this facility will be a beacon of hope for patients who are going through a financial rough patch and are in need of healthcare. Let’s continue to work together as a community so that, building by building, clinic by clinic, patient by patient, we can make quality healthcare accessible to patients throughout the Region.”
When they weren’t enjoying the complimentary tacos, water, and orange juice, attendees posed for photos with Rusty the RailCat, the Gary SouthShore RailCats’ mascot.
