Chamber supports Duneland Garden Club with donation in recognition of its work to make and keep Downtown Chesterton beautiful

The Duneland Chamber of Commerce is delighted to announce a $1,000 donation to the Duneland Garden Club, for its labors—very nearly throughout the year—to make and keep Downtown Chesterton beautiful.

In spring, the Duneland Garden Club landscapes and flowers the lush and riotous gardens in Thomas Centennial Park as well as the hanging boxes and planters along Broadway and South Calumet Road. That explosion of color and fragrance it lovingly tends all summer and into the fall. Then, just before Thanksgiving—and in time for the Hometown Holiday Celebration—it decks the Downtown’s halls (and the Westchester Public Library’s) with the red and green of Yule.

“The Duneland Garden Club’s dedicated members contribute countless hours of service and passion to their gardening projects,” Chamber President Maura Mundell said. “They’ve made a significant impact on the look and feel of our town. Their hard work is evident in every planter and garden bed, and we are thrilled to support their continued efforts. It’s community partnerships like this one that make Duneland such a special place to live, work, and play.”

Chesterton Park Superintendent Tyler McLead—who works closely with the Duneland Garden Club—couldn’t agree more. “The Duneland Garden Club is a tremendous resource for the Park Department and a hugely valuable asset to the community. I think Thomas Centennial Park is the loveliest place in town to eat lunch in the spring or summer and that’s all thanks to the Garden Club. The members design the garden beds, plant them, and then tend them. They’ve got a great eye for color, they work really hard, and I want to thank them for everything they do for the Town of Chesterton.”

“We are incredibly grateful to the Duneland Chamber for this generous donation,” Club President Theresa Buehler said. “Our team works hard to bring beauty and joy to our community, and this support will help us continue our mission to keep Duneland blooming.”
