The Valparaiso High School community had Teachers appreciation night, as each girls’ basketball player gave a special basketball to their favorite teacher, that made a difference or positive influence in their life. Valparaiso HS also received a special Unified Banner for the second time in school history. 1 of 6 schools in the state of Indiana received this award twice.
“Tonight is teacher appreciation night. They selected a favorite or influential teacher to be honored tonight at the game and so today on gameday, we got to wear their jerseys. I think it’s very endearing and special.” -Michelle Harris. Valparaiso High School English teacher.
“So we always talk about the energy. It’s a big part of Valpo. Coach K always preaches energy. It’s really about sticking together as a team, never letting anyone’s energy drop, and we really prepared for this one with intense practices; never letting the outcome of different games affect the confidence we bring to this one.” -Cheyenne Brown. “I think in the first half, we got stuck by their defense and we had to adjust to it and it took time to adjust. Personally, I was forcing things too much and we waited for things to come to us. In the second half, we collectively did a better job at that.” -Lilli Barnes.
