Crossroads Chamber celebrates a successful year at annual Holiday Awards and Board Installation Luncheon

On Friday, December 13, the Crossroads Chamber hosted its Annual Holiday Awards and Board Installation Luncheon at Innsbrook Country Club. Northwest Indiana representatives gathered for a formal luncheon to celebrate their achievements over the past year. The event, which was filled with holiday spirit, served as the Chamber’s final gathering of the year.

For Rick Peltier, Crossroads Chamber board director and executive director of the Franciscan Health Foundation, this event is one of his favorites of the year.

“Every year, this event truly puts me in the Christmas spirit because it reminds me that the season is here,” said Peltier. “Looking around the room and seeing all these people who make such an impact in the community—especially for those most in need—is inspiring. I’m proud to serve alongside so many individuals who are dedicated to giving back and making a difference for those in need across Northwest Indiana.”

Kelly Dooley, the new executive director for Southern Care Hospice and a member of the Crossroads Chamber board of directors, also chairs the Business Expo. He partners with other local businesses, such as Wish Photography, to help make the event a success.

“We wanted to make this luncheon stand out from other business events,” said Dooley. “Our Chamber is well-known for being a fun and engaging group, and we wanted to take that up a notch by adding the photo booth. It’s all about creating a unique experience and helping everyone make lasting memories for 2024.”

The turnout was excellent, with plenty of people from the Region in attendance. Each organization that was highlighted received a gift basket filled with a variety of holiday goodies.

“We are here to build relationships and improve our communities. I truly value the partnership with the Chamber as it's been incredibly beneficial,” said Peltier. “Not only do I serve on the board of directors, which reflects my commitment to the Chamber, but Franciscan Health is also proud to be a legacy sponsor and a long-time supporter. For the past several years, we’ve been the presenting sponsor for the Chamber of Commerce, taking the lead in supporting all of their events throughout the year. Franciscan greatly values this relationship, and I must say, the Chamber, led by Deanna and her phenomenal team, is simply outstanding.”

Everyone was in high spirits, fully embracing holiday cheer. Many attendees wore ugly sweaters and festive hats, adding to the fun atmosphere. A photo booth was set up where visitors, including Santa, had the chance to create lasting memories before the start of the Chamber County event in 2024.

“The Chamber brought in Santa, which is fantastic. People love getting their pictures taken, and we make it easy by using their phones. That way, they can post the photos on social media right away, which gets everyone excited,” said Dooley. “It’s also a big relief for me because I don’t have to worry about sending out pictures later, which can be a bit of a hassle.”

Peltier believes that the primary purpose of every Chamber member, along with Franciscan, is to make a significant impact on the communities they serve in Northwest Indiana. He emphasized that their goal is to improve the lives of those who are most in need.

“I’d just encourage everyone to stick around—you’ll see the heart of my message today,” said Peltier. “I always remember how joyful Christmas was for me as a kid—running down the stairs and seeing the presents Santa brought. But the reality is that many families and children don’t get to experience that same excitement. That’s why I ask people to remember those in need this holiday season. Our primary mission at the Franciscan Health Foundation is to support those families. While Christmas may be a time of joy for many of us, it’s not the same for everyone. So, give back, lend a hand, and help brighten the holiday season for those who need it most.”

This year has been a successful one for the Crossroads Chamber, hosting 31 events and adding 129 new members. With this being the final event of the year, they aimed to go out with a bang.

“I’ve been a long-time member of this Chamber, and no matter where I go or what I do, I always find my way back because we consistently do great business together,” said Dooley. “The Chamber is an incredible resource for anyone in business to connect with others who can help them grow. That’s what the Chamber is all about—meeting people who can help me improve at what I do and, in turn, finding ways to help others.”
