Boy Scout Kane Darnell—a member of Troop 908—has completed his Eagle Scout project by building and installing a trio of benches as sturdy as they are handsome.
Two of the benches have been placed at Coffee Creek Park and the third one at Dogwood Park.
“I really want to thank Kane, the other Scouts in Troop 908, and Scoutmaster Jack Darnell for their hard work,” Chesterton Park Superintendent Tyler McLead said. “The benches look great and I know they’ll get a lot of use. The ones in Coffee Creek Park are also nice complements to the benches which the Crumpacker Memorial Charitable Fund donated as part of the pond enhancement project. Well done, Kane! Your Eagle Scout project is and will be very much appreciated!”
“The Park Department and the Park Board too love to work with Scouts,” McLead added. “It’s awesome when youth groups and other community organizations take an interest in making our park properties even better than they are.
