Graduate safety Xavier Watts has been named a consensus First-Team All-American for 2024, following his unanimous 2023 nod. He becomes the first Notre Dame player since 1993, and one of just 17 in program history, to earn two-time consensus honors.
Watts, a 2024 team captain, joins Heisman winner Travis Hunter as one of only two repeat consensus All-Americans this season. His award is Notre Dame’s 111th consensus selection overall.
A semifinalist for multiple national awards, Watts led the Irish defense with 12 career interceptions—most by an Irish player since 1996—ranking eighth all-time at Notre Dame. He finished third nationally in total interceptions this year, anchoring a defense that ranked among the nation’s best in passing efficiency, turnovers gained, scoring defense and more.
