“There’s a lot of competition in that safety room, but it’s pushing all of us to be better,” Talich said. “It’s not about who starts right now—it’s about getting better, taking advantage of opportunities, and doing our job.”
The Blue defense capitalized on five Gold turnovers and kept their opponents out of the end zone in the second half. Freeman noted the effort and execution across the board and suggested he may look to revise the game’s scoring system in future years to better reflect defensive contributions.
“I told the team after the game—we’ve got to find a way to get the defense more points,” Freeman said with a smile. “But overall, I’m really pleased. This spring was about development, and we saw that today.”
