The Valparaiso High School boys basketball team advanced two spots to sixth in the Region Sports Network’s weekly Top Ten Ranking, which takes a look at all of the teams in Northwest Indiana.
The Vikings were ranked sixth before their victory at Crown Point on Tuesday, following victories against Portage at home on Friday and on the road at South Bend Clay on Saturday. You can read the entire rankings here, and check out an excerpt below from Valpo’s section in the breakdown:
6. Valparaiso (4-1, 1-1) Last Week – #8
For an undersized, inexperienced team, Valparaiso is pretty solid so far, losing only to RSN #1 Lake Central. Last week the Vikings won back to backs on Friday and Saturday, a difficult task for any club but even more so for a young and inexperienced team. Winning on the road against a pretty good South Bend Clay team in the second leg of the back to backs is a pretty good indicator of solid coaching and disciplined play, so Valparaiso may yet be a dark horse in the DAC. Conference road games against Crown Point on Tuesday and La Porte on Friday will be a really good indicator of just where this team is at.
