On Thursday, the Indiana Dunes Tourism Bureau in Porter County and LaPorte County Convention and Visitors Bureau honored 22 businesses, organizations and individuals for their contributions to the region’s tourism industry. A winner of the Recognition of Service Excellence (R.O.S.E) Outstanding Legislator Award, State Senator Karen Tallian (D-Portage) said that she was deeply honored to have received the recognition for her work on legislation to broaden the opportunities available to the Indiana Dunes State Park pavilion.
“It is a great honor to receive recognition for bringing more people to our area of the state,” said Tallian. “We have much to offer visitors and it is our job as legislators to give our local communities the tools to maintain and revitalize our most prized destination spots.”
House Enrolled Act 1054 contains language from legislation introduced by Sen. Tallian that is specifically designed to attract private operators to the Indiana Dunes State Park pavilion in Northwest Indiana. The act, co-sponsored by Sen. Tallian, provides that land controlled by the Department of Natural Resources may permit the retail sale of alcohol on the licensed premises of a pavilion located within the Indiana Dunes State Park, which has been bypassed by private operators in the past because of its no-alcohol rule.
The R.O.S.E. Awards go to those who provide excellent service and go the extra mile to make the two counties an excellent place to visit. list of other R.O.S.E Award recipients can be found at the following link: http://www.nwibq.com/tourism/porter-laporte-counties-present-rose-awards/.
