Pete Wilson will be riding his bicycle 1,600 mile to Hope, Arkansas and back to help raise money to finish an orphanage in Northern Uganda. Pete visited the House of Hope orphanage over a year ago and building on their new facility remains unfinished; three houses, a common outdoor kitchen and the septic still need to be done. As a result, Pete and his family began to brainstorm ways to help and Ride to Hope was born.
Pete will be leaving from Bethel Valparaiso church June 10th and returning July 4th. He will be averaging around 70-80 miles/day and staying at local churches along the way. It's just him and a trailer with the things he needs. If he can get every mile of his ride sponsored at $50/mile it would be enough to finish the village and help move him and hisfamily over to Uganda to assist the house mothers caring for the children. Pete has been training for this ride for the past several months and now rides with the trailer 80 miles/day 4 days a week. For those interested in donating, visit www.ridetohope.com.
The family is hoping to move over to Uganda this fall to help support and assist the house mothers currently caring for the 33 children there. The Wilson family has four kids from 2-7 yrs old. The children at the village range in age from 4-16. Follow along with the journey at www.lifeblessings.org.
