Visiting the Brickie Pool, you see the kids are working hard pre-season to get off to a great start.
A lot of the swimmers have been practicing throughout the fall while others are transitioning from a fall sport. Needless to say everyone is doing their part to get the team off on the right foot.
Coach Foddrill is excited for the upcoming season.
“We have some new coaches, Coach Ken Cawthon will assist on the boys side and Kaitlyn Barker for the girls. Diving Coach is Katie Rinas. This year we are going to have a few more divers as well.”
Returning diver is Miguel Marcano who was a first year diver last year. He won’t be alone this year. They have added Ramone Gonzalez and Carly Wynn to the list of divers hoping to gain some extra points at the meets with help from the divers.
The boys are led by seniors Braden O’Kelley, Alek Seeley and Justin Olsted.
“These guys are going to be tough this year. Braden will be doing 100 breast and 50 free. Seeley is moving to more of a sprinter role this year doing 50 and 100 free. Justin will be in the 100 back stroke,” Foddrill said.
The girls season starts a couple weeks ahead of the boys.
“Kaylee Gubricky will be tough this year. Kaylee will swim the 100 breast and 50 free. Freshman Marina Ahner will be a swimmer to watch for the girls, probably competing in the 100 back and 100 free. Alivia Pender will be another Brickie to watch, she will take on the 100 back and 50 free,” stated Coach Foddrill.
The Brickie girls will swim against Wheeler before competing along side the boys against Valparaiso at home on November 30.
All the coaches urge the parents and fans to come support the Brickie swimmers.. It will be fun to see if the hard work pays off!
