The Chesterton High School Winter Guard took top honors this past Saturday in the Midwest Color Guard Invitational hosted at Lake Park High School in Roselle, IL.
After putting in their best early season performance, the CHS Winter Guard took top honors in the ‘Open Class’ competition by besting the team from Marion Catholic High School, last year’s sixth place Open Class Color Guard at the Winter Guard International’s (WGI) World Finals competition.
“Our performance was amazing,” said the tearful senior guard member Skylar McElheny after Saturday night’s performance. “The high level of excitement that our girls brought to their performance left several of the judges speechless at times during their taped commentary, they stopped judging and just became audience members enjoying the show,” said the group’s director Lisa Scheiber. “Their success this weekend will be a great motivator as we prepare for our next national level competition this coming weekend,” Scheiber added.
The Chesterton Winter Guard’s 2015 show uses a sound track entitled Code Name Vivaldi, a work that is perhaps best known from its use in the movie franchise about fictional espionage agent ‘Jason Bourne’. The CHS production entitled, “Temptation” is driven by this dark and up-tempo piece of music as the girls reveal seven gold seals that leave the cheering audiences with a thought provoking message from throughout the ages.

Prop Crew members include: Trey Bonnema, Belle Chandler, Jacob Espinoza, Olivia Kaiser, Henry Keller, Hannah Maluvac, Joe Sabol, and Garrett Swanson.
Assisting CHS Winter Guard Director Lisa Scheiber is Jeff Wroblewski on drill design and Lori Woodruff on graphic arts design.
