Crown Point Community Foundation Awards CPHS Students AP Scholarships for 5th Consecutive Year

crown-point-community-foundationFor the fifth year in a row, the Crown Point Community Foundation has generously awarded a grant to fund Advanced Placement end-of-course tests to students who demonstrate a financial need.

This year, Crown Point High School awarded 31 scholarships to students who plan to take one or more Advanced Placement tests in May of this year. With the exception of math, science, and computer science tests, all other AP tests cost $91.00 each. (Please note that students on Free/Reduced Lunch do not pay for their exams.) Many students take multiple tests. To qualify for one of the 31 scholarships worth $76.00 each, students were encouraged by their AP teachers to submit an essay to the Scholarship Committee which comprised Advanced Placement teachers and CPHS administration. The committee judges the essays on the following criteria: demonstration of financial need, the number of AP tests the student plans to take, and the quality of the essay. On April 6th, the scholarships were distributed to the recipients.

Students receiving scholarship awards this year are; Alaa Abdeldaiem, Arianna Amelse, Josephine Andrews, Catherine Berger, Julia Brown, Brennen Chaussey, Tea Chura, Donny Colvin, Rebecca Correa, Paul Dawley, Alyssa DeLaurentis, Brandon Doty, Jordan Embry, Mary Freda, Antonio Gaeta, Toni Gaeta, Anna Hopkins, Saym Imtiaz, Tyler Jeremiah, Justin Kersey, Eric Kim, Danielle Klawitter, Leah Marlowe, Joshua Mazur, Claire Olah, John Sakaleros, Julia Sansone, Noah Scibbe, Christina Winfrey, and Sydney Witham. The Crown Point High School family, including the administration, students, parents, and teachers, are most appreciative of the Foundation’s support of the Advanced Placement program.
