Meals on Wheels offers volunteer opportunities delivering meals in your own community Monday through Friday. Why not join us for our May orientation/training on Tuesday, May 12, at t 10:00 a.m.? There is nothing more rewarding than knowing you are making a difference in someone’s life. We are currently recruiting drivers/delivery volunteers in the Merrillville community. Seniors in your neighborhood are receiving meals and you would be helping them stay in their own homes by volunteering to help deliver their meals. Each day, volunteers assist in the delivery of more than 1,200 meals throughout Lake County. According to Joan Vith, Volunteer Manager, “volunteers are our greatest resource, and we are recruiting new volunteers in Merrillville to help us deliver meals. We have five routes in Merrillville and need 25 volunteers per week to ensure deliveries are made timely.”
Interested candidates are invited to attend Volunteer Orientation and Training at the Meals on Wheels Community Room, 8446 Virginia Street in Merrillville. The session lasts one and ½ hour . Applicants will have an opportunity to tour the facility and ask questions about Meals on Wheels and the different volunteer opportunities we have available.
