Six Crown Point High School Students Honored at CTE’s 21 Under 21

Crown-Point-High-School-21-CTE-under-21Back in February, the Northwest Indiana Works Council asked region high schools to nominate students from Career and Technical programs for the 2014-15 CTE’s 21 Under 21. Teachers were asked to nominate students who recently graduated or were current high school seniors and have represented incredible accomplishments with school and life, and state in 300 words or less why the student should be recognized in the 21 Under 21 tribute for 2014-15.

Indiana Works Council said that acknowledging CTE students on their school success, motivation, and their education and career goals is a great way to promote the many CTE programs in our region. It also lends credibility to the skills and opportunities these programs provide to young people as they move on to pursue high demand, high wage careers in Northwest Indiana.

On May 28th, Indiana Works council hosted a recognition reception for the students chosen for CTE’s 2014-15 21 Under 21 at Ivy Tech Community College in Valparaiso. Crown Point High School had 6 students recognized at this celebration. Students are Alexis Berdine, Kelsea Costello, Justin Melvin, Elizabeth MacPherson, Dustin Ostaszewski and Nathan Way. All students with the exception of Nathan Way, who had a prior commitment, were in attendance. Crown Point High School teachers Mary Bachnak and Brian Trapp, college and career specialist Johanna Hess, and Crown Point Community School Corporation Superintendent Dr. Teresa Eineman were also present to honor and support these students.
