Held on Saturday, September 26, the Youth Competition within the Festival will take place from 9am to 3pm. Contestants will compete on the streets of historic Downtown Chesterton for the chance to win a trophy and a $250 Blick Art Materials gift certificate.

Registration is $10 and chalk art is supplied. The deadline for applications is September 15, but Frontline Development Director Derek Frazier urges potential artists to apply early.

“We have a limited amount of chalk squares available to compete and we expect them to go pretty quickly,” said Frazier. “Applicants may go towww.HookedonArtFestival.com to download an application.”

Winner of the 2014 R.O.S.E. Award for Best Festival in Porter County, the family-friendly Hooked on Art event will be held once again at Thomas Centennial Park. In conjunction with the European Market, Hooked on Art highlights live music, interactive kid’s activities, unique food dishes, and a silent auction of Frontline’s client artwork.

Young chalk artists are encouraged to create a 6x6 chalk piece to be judged based on audience engagement, creativity, quality, and originality. Frontline is a 501(c)3 non-profit organization that specializes in peer-to-peer substance abuse treatment and recovery support. Since 2008, Frontline has served over 1,000 young men, women, and their families.

“At Frontline, we understand that family time is prevention time,” said Frazier. “And Frontline’s Hooked on Art Festival celebrates live works of art in progress for the whole family to enjoy.”
