Meals on Wheels of NWI Offering Volunteering Opportunities in Hammond

Meals-On-Wheels-NWI-New-LogoMeals on Wheels offers volunteer opportunities delivering meals in your own Hammond community Monday through Friday. Why not join us for our September orientation/training on Tuesday, September 8, at 10:00 am, or Thursday, September 17, at 1:00 pm? We are currently recruiting drivers/delivery volunteers in the Hammond area to replace retiring volunteers. Seniors in your neighborhood are receiving meals on eight different routes and you would be helping them stay in their own homes by volunteering to help deliver their meals. Each day, volunteers assist in the delivery of more than 1,200 meals throughout Lake County. According to Joan Vith, Volunteer Manager, “volunteers are our greatest resource, and we are recruiting new volunteers in Hammond to help us deliver 8 different routes. With that many routes it takes a lot of volunteers to cover Monday through Friday.”

Interested candidates are invited to attend Volunteer Orientation and Training at the Meals on Wheels Community Room, 8446 Virginia Street in Merrillville. The session lasts one and ¼ hour . Applicants will have an opportunity to tour the facility and ask questions about Meals on Wheels and the different volunteer opportunities we have available.

To register for training, or for more information on individual or corporate volunteering opportunities, contact Joan at (219)-756-3663, or email joan@mownwi.org
