Make a Difference by Volunteering at Meals on Wheels

Meals-On-Wheels-NWI-New-LogoMeals on Wheels offers volunteer opportunities delivering meals in your own community Monday through Friday. Why not join us for our orientation/training programs in November? On Tuesday, November 10, at 10:00am, and again on Thursday, November 19, at 1:00 p.m. we will have a one hour training session in our Community Room, located at 8446 Virginia Street, Merrillville. We are currently recruiting drivers/delivery volunteers in the Hammond, Merrillville and Whiting communities. You could help one of your neighbors stay in their own homes by volunteering to help deliver meals. Each day, volunteers assist in the delivery of more than 1,500 meals throughout Lake County. According to Joan Vith, Volunteer Manager, “volunteers help us meet our goal of providing proper nutrition to those in need throughout Lake County. With recent retirements we are in need of additional drivers in the Merrillville, Hammond and Whiting neighborhoods.”

Interested candidates are invited to attend. Applicants will have an opportunity to tour the facility and ask questions about Meals on Wheels and the different volunteer opportunities we have available.

To register for training, or for more information on individual or corporate volunteering opportunities, contact Joan at (219)-756-3663, or email joan@mownwi.org
