This past Saturday, the Chesterton High School Show Choir headed to Southmont High School in Crawfordsville, IN where the Sandpipers and Show Choir Band competed in the 25th Annual Southmont Invitational.
The Sandpipers made finals and had an explosive final performance powered by their incredible back-up band that earned them first runner-up honors among a strong field of groups from across the Midwest. In addition, senior Jenny Haggerty was named the Sandpipers outstanding performer; senior Sean Puent earned grand champion of the solo competition and senior Ellyn Winski was named outstanding female soloist within a show choir show.
"I am incredibly proud of the tenacity and commitment that each of these students has shown so far this season. They are really working together in order to achieve success and every ounce of their accolades this past weekend were well deserved," said Director Kristin Morris. "I am inspired and energized by them every day and can not wait to see where the rest of our season takes us."
The Sandpipers are directed by Kristin Morris, assisted by Kathy Barbian, choreographed by Alex Hall. The Show Choir Band is under the direction of Erin Gerig.
