Walk into a Boys & Girls Club and chances are you will see kids practicing the art of stacking and unstacking plastic cups in particular sequences. This fun and cognitive game has turned into an exciting competitive sport! In fact, cup speed stacking is promoted and supported by the World Stacking Association (WSSA). The association promotes the standardization and advancement of sport stacking worldwide and also serves as the governing body for sport stacking rules and regulations providing a uniform framework for sport stacking events, sanctions, and sport stacking competitions and records.
On Thursday, November 12, 2015 – 98 Club members from Boys & Girls Clubs of Porter County participated in WSSA’s 7th Annual STACK UP Event. For two hours, Club members competed on their speed and sequencing of cup stacking. Once the event was over, speed times were recorded and now Club members are waiting to see if their scores will be recognized nationally or even find a spot in the book of world records.
Club staff members Kyler Hansen and Chris Allmandinger organized the event at the South Haven Club. “Kyler and I are very pleased with how this event took place. Both of us were glad that 98 Club members participated with this fun but competitive event. We are preparing for next year’s event already,” states Allmandinger.
