Ever feel stressed or overwhelmed by life? Do you ever wish you had more joy, fulfillment and peace? If so, a special program, “happiness=health=creativity=health,” is for you!
Only two hours will help you deal with life’s ups and downs. This program will show you strategies that really work to boost your happiness, health and creativity. Try new tools. Add to your resiliency toolbox!
The Center for Creative Solutions, Inc. is sponsoring the event on Saturday, August 18, 10 a.m. to 12:00 noon at the Coolspring Public Library, 6925 West 400 North, Michigan City. It is made possible thanks in part to the support of the Healthcare Foundation of La Porte.
Everyone is welcome to attend this free program. A continental breakfast will be served. Registration is suggested, but not required, by going to www.CenterforCreativeSolutions.com
During the session, presenters, Keri Marrs Barrón and Cynthia Hedge, from the Center will share current research and practices that influence our happiness, health and creativity. Some of these scientifically-proven strategies include:
- Building strong relationships.
- Being grateful.
- Engaging in creative activities at work and home.
- Boosting your own health through exercise, good nutrition and sleep.
- Showing kindness to yourself.
- Enjoying the outdoors.
- Giving your time, talent and treasures to others.
- Being optimistic.
- Dream BIG.
“Our world tells us that the secret to happiness is wealth, status and fame. Yet, research shows nothing could be further from the truth. Conflict results between popular belief and science,” said Hedge, CEO of the Center, a non-profit organization.
“What we think will make us happy often leads to discontent, dissatisfaction and stress. A consequence is vulnerability in dealing with the challenges of our lives,” she noted. High rates of depression and addiction are often manifestations of that vulnerability. Hedge added, “resiliency– practicing healthy ways to deal with the ups and downs we all experience in our lives”– is now ranked as one of the most important skills of the 21st Century.
