PTS has committed to building Future-Ready libraries throughout our district. When an unfortunate situation in August forced us to discard all books from the South Haven Elementary library, PTS decided to take this as an opportunity to make this the site for our first Future-Ready media center. Our vision involves the use of STEM activities and integrating literacy skills to build a media center that encourages 21st Century Learning.
Portage Township Schools has worked with our Title I and Grants Director to provide South Haven Elementary teachers with classroom libraries and replace a portion of the titles in the library that were lost early this fall.
Additionally, the school district’s Director of Innovative Learning is collaborating with teachers and implementing leading practices by following the research of Future Ready Schools and the League of Innovative Schools PTS can use this as an opportunity to building an Innovative Learning Lab that combines literacy with STEM activities.
Nominating South Haven Elementary School to receive a library makeover is an excellent way for our community to support our efforts in creating a positive and Future-Ready learning environment for our students.
