Shorewood Forest Subdivision is located on the western part of Valparaiso just south of US Rt. 30 and just east of county road 500 West.
The Shorewood Forest neighborhood is recognized as the premiere Lake Community in Northwest Indiana, boasts many lovely amenities and is a family friendly community. The subdivision features a 240 acre lake with nine miles of shoreline, clubhouse, tennis courts, playground, three boat mooring facilities, central water system, sanitary sewers, paved roads with curbs and gutters (deeded to the county), nature preserves, walking trails, a recreational field, and organized owner activities and committees.
Additionally, there is a state-of-the-art 25 meter 6-lane pool with a 20' x 30' diving well as well as a 16' x 24' wading pool. Swimming lessons and water aerobics are offered to residents in the summer. The P.O.A. has 66 rental boat docks and a boat-launching ramp. Use of the lake is restricted, monitored, and for members only. The lake is stocked with bass, crappie, perch, channel cat and blue gills. There is even a very active group of fisherman who enjoy the sport year round!
Shorewood Forest is only eight miles from Interstate 65 on US Hwy. 30 about 50 miles from Chicago. The Indiana Toll Road, Interstate 94 and the South Shore Commuter Train are all within easy driving distance from Shorewood Forest. Union Township Schools are the focus for education for students residing in Shorewood Forest. Union Township Elementary School was named a National Blue Ribbon School. Valparaiso University, Purdue North Central, Indiana University Northwest, and Ivy Tech all have campuses featuring a variety of educational, social and cultural opportunities for the Valparaiso area.
