Since its development in 1942, the Indiana Chamber of Commerce's publication Here Is Your Indiana Government has been used by local communities to educate students and help citizens learn about Indiana and how Hoosiers govern themselves. The 2009-10 edition was just released this month, and includes:
- A revamped chapter on Indiana's judicial system, courtesy of Supreme Court officials;
- Updated information on state agencies and legislators;
- Historical highlights of Indiana government development;
- Interesting facts about Indiana; and
- Structure of county and township governments.
"By utilizing this book in the classroom, we can teach Indiana students about their state's government so they may better understand their rights and responsibilities as citizens," says Indiana Superintendent of Public Instruction Tony Bennett.
The book costs $19.50 per copy, although a significant discount is provided on bulk orders.
