2020 has been a year of constant stress and adjustments for teachers across the United States. The challenging balancing act of ever-changing classroom settings, recording video lessons, and much more, has not fallen on deaf ears.
Matthew Nondorf DDS, DHSc and his team at Cavanaugh & Nondorf Orthodontics decided to recognize the teachers who have sacrificed so much to teach the Region’s youth. The pandemic’s impact on the Region’s educators sparked an idea for a drawing to benefit the teachers that have had to remain diligent in teaching amongst irregular circumstances.
“This year has been so difficult for all teachers, and we wanted to give them the recognition they deserve for all they’ve done to teach during the pandemic,” Nondorf said. “The constant juggling of in-person classes one minute, and then switching to online the next is a very difficult adjustment for teachers to make. So to give them something to show how much we appreciate them is fantastic.”
Nondorf wanted the drawing to be a way to give back to teachers during the upcoming holiday season. This token of appreciation is just the latest in a long line of educational efforts. Cavanaugh & Nondorf Orthodontics has been a member of Valparaiso’s Chamber of Commerce since 2002. Nondorf, a proponent of lifelong learning, believes in the major role teachers play in educating the future of our communities.
To nominate their teachers, students simply fill out a slip when they come into the office for their appointment. The winner will be drawn on December 4, 2020. The prize is a $100 gift card to the teacher chosen, and a $25 gift card to the student who nominated the winner.
