Each weekend we bring you 10 Fun Things to Do in Northwest Indiana so you are never without something to do! This weekend features Pierogi Festival, the 80th Anniversary of Sunset Hill Farm, concerts, comedy shows, fundraisers and plenty more!

Pierogi Festival 
Whiting's favorite yearly event is Pierogi Fest, which in any year besides the 125th anniversary celebration would be the No. 1 can’t miss weekend in the city. Organized by the Whiting-Robertsdale Chamber of Commerce, Stahura says the city is “all hands on deck” in its support for the event that draws not only residents of the region, but visitors from throughout the nation and world.

See a Show at the Portage 16 IMAX! 
Summer Blockbuster season is in full swing with Dawn of the Planet of the Apes, Planes: Fire & Rescue, Lucy, Transformers: Age of Extinction and more all in wide release! Portage 16 IMAX features 15 ALL digital Projection screens, D-BOX seating and 1 Digital IMAX screen. All theaters are stadium seating with high back rocking chairs. We have a massive spacious lobby, and mezzanine for relaxing before your movie. Free drink refills, and $.50 popcorn refills!

The Genesius Guild to Present Classic ‘50’s Musical “The Pajama Game”
 The Genesius Guild of First United Methodist Church of Hammond brings the Tony Award-winning musical “The Pajama Game” to the stage! A Dinner Theatre option will be available Saturday, July 26 for an additional $13 per person; dinner will be served at 6 p.m., and reservations for dinner must be made by July 16.

80th Anniversary Festival Honors County Icon 
This Saturday Porter County Parks and Recreation will be hosting a family reunion style festival to celebrate 80 Years of Sunset Hill Farm from 11am-3pm at Sunset Hill Farm County Park at 775 Meridian, Valparaiso. Sunset Hill’s history dates back to 1934 as a farm owned by Colonel Murray and his family. Later on, this property was donated and repurposed into the Sunset Hill Farm County Park that exists today, still keeping ties to its roots as a family farm through programming and partnerships.

Bonner Senior Center to Host Fish Fry & Bake Sale
The Bonner Senior Center, 5800 Lexington Ave., will have an all you can eat fish fry with tator tots and cole slaw on Sat., July 26, from 4-7 pm. There will also be a bake sale. Call the center at 219-762-1522 for further information.

Gerry Hunt Trio at Zao Island 
Zao Island, until now Northwest Indiana's #1 destination location for family fun, is now the area's newest live music venue. Beginning Friday, July 18 and through the end of August, Zao Island will be presenting some of the area's best original rock, blues, reggae, jazz, and jam bands on Friday and Saturday nights (full bands lineup below). Music from 7-10 p.m. No cover.

Dirty Rotten Scoundrels Kicks Off This Friday at Memorial Opera House

Midwest Brewers Brawl set for July 27th 
Northwest Indiana Leaders Young Professional Network will be hosting their 2nd Annual Brewers Brawl at the Pavilion at Washington Park on Sunday, July 27. All proceeds benefit the United Way of La Porte County to fund Minds in Motion, whose revolutionary program integrates the brain and body, emphasizing the physiological link between learning and moving with children.

Native American Heritage Day at Friendship Gardens is July 27 
On Sunday, July 27 from noon to 4 p.m., International Friendship Gardens will present its annual free event highlighting the historical Potawatomi natives of this area. A Native American will start the fire at noon in a traditional manner. This fire will cook squirrel, some bison tongue and jerky, and garden grown squash and beans seasoned with herbs and maple sugar.

It's Comedy Baby! at the Blue Chip Casino 
On Sundays in July, It's Comedy Baby! at It's Vegas Baby from 7-9 pm. Hosted by Mike Toomey, this weekend's show will feature WGN-TV Morning Show sports and anchor Pat Tomasulo will perform along with special guest Kristen Toomey!
