What’s Happening?

1Student-Hammond-Feb-2018-04Love was in the air as Hammond High celebrated Valentine’s Day this year.

Student Government planned several initiatives to spread the holiday spirit on Valentine’s Day, with one of their ideas allowing students to buy roses for their friends and family. The sophomore class decided to sell Crush pop to the students, and the cans were sent to students’ “crushes.”

Also Hammond High plans to host a pep rally to boost the spirits of the student body. The school plans to put together a playlist and have many different games, including a basketball game between the students and staff. The rally should be a good stress reliever for the students.

Aside from the pep rally, Hammond High is celebrating Black History Month. Teachers are planning on discussing African Americans who played large roles in US history.

Lastly, the Hammond High boys’ varsity basketball team could be on their way to sectionals. With a record of 15-3, Hammond High wishes the team the best of luck.

What's coming up?

This month has been somewhat slow at Hammond High, but there are some small things that have happened. One thing that happened was the switching of classes. Many students change classes to be on track to get a diploma and others changed to graduate early.

Another notable activity was the involvement of the JROTC on Martin Luther King day. In recognition of the day they decided to march in the parade. There was also a series of meetings involving different classes to inform students on important events happening in the future.

While January was a slower month, the future holds much more for Hammond High than the present. The school never stops making new changes to benefit the students.
