An outstanding group of candidates have been chosen as the 2015 CHS Prom royalty contestants. Three seniors were nominated for king and queen and three juniors for prince and princess.
The three students nominated for queen are seniors Katherine Conway, Josie Tolin and Jessica Urycki; and for princess are juniors Samantha Warren, Molly Wilson and Abigail Witte.
Conway is the daughter of Joe and Yvonne Conway, is active in cross country and track. She is a member of National Honor Society, Natrual Helpers and EMPOWER Porter County-Around the Table.
Tolin, daughter of Hal and Rosanne Tolin, is active in cross country and swimming.
Urycki, daughter of Kelly and Steve Urycki, is active volleyball.
Warren, daughter of Valerie and Bill Warren, is active in track and field, basketball, photography and art.
Wilson, daughter of Amy Randolph and Jim Wilson, is active in soccer and track and field.
Witte, daughter of Lisa Witte, enjoys running and has lettered on the cross country team. She enjoys playing the piano.
The three students nominated for king are Sawyer Hallas, Seth Halpin and Ben Lewis; and prince are juniors Chris Fouts, Harry Nagra and Gavin Putchaven.
Hallas, son of Rich and Stacy Hallas, enjoys many activities during his free time.
Halpin, son of Natalie and the late David Halpin, is active in Trojan Guard Marching Band as drum major, wind ensemble, orchestra and pep band, and the varsity boys swimming and diving team.
Lewis, son of Evan and Katrina Lewis, enjoys weightlifting and football in his free time.
Fouts, son of Betsy and Craig Fouts, enjoys fishing, skiing and tennis.
Nagra, son Ruby and Vince Nagra, is active in track and football. He enjoys volunteering for activities like Rebuilding Together Duneland.
Putchaven, son of Larry and Angela Putchaven, is active in wrestling.
The CHS junior/senior prom, “Stardust Romance,” will be hosted at Duneland Falls Banquet Hall, 1100 IN-149 in Burns Harbor on Saturday, May 2. Doors will open at 6 p.m. with check-in from 6-7 p.m. Doors close promptly at 7 p.m. with dinner from 7-8 p.m. Dancing is from 8-11 p.m.
The Grand March will take place at Chesterton Middle School, 651 W. Morgan Ave., on Saturday, May 2 promptly at 5 p.m. in the Goldsborough Gym and will continue until approximately 5:45 p.m. All students attending the Grand March must park along Morgan Ave. between 8th and 5th Street. It will be closed to all other (non-resident) traffic during this time. Students must enter through CMS Auditorium Entrance #2, and head toward the Gym. Parents must enter CMS through Entrance #19, and may park at the Duneland Resale Shop or in any available parking space, except for Morgan Avenue, which is reserved for student traffic only. The doors to CMS will open at approximately 4:00 p.m. Admission is free for all students and spectators. Students, please enter CMS in the same order you parked your vehicle along Morgan Ave, starting with the vehicles furthest east toward 5th Street. This will ensure a smooth departure for the Duneland Falls Banquet Hall in Burns Harbor.
