For the past 20 years, Brooke Christ has been helping people realize the American Dream as a Mortgage Loan Officer at Centier.
“It’s an amazing company to work for because it’s like you’re a part of an extended family,” Christ said of Centier. “Your clients become family, too. You watch their kids grow up, and then those kids come to you when they’re ready to buy a home.”
On the one hand, the job gives Christ a lot of downtime. It’s not a normal 9-5 because people tend to look at homes when they’re not working, so she might need to get someone a letter of pre-qualification on the weekends or after normal working hours. On the other hand, Christ keeps very busy giving back through related organizations.
Through her 10-year involvement with the La Porte County Realtors Association, Christ has once again co-chaired the Deserving Children’s Charity Auction. This year they raised $41,000 to take 580 children shopping for warm weather gear.
“The smile you see on a kid’s face when he knows he’s going to be warm for the rest of the season makes it very worthwhile.”
Helping children is one of Christ’s passions. She recently retired from a 15-year tenure coaching swimming for the La Porte Turbos Swim Club.
With a little more time on her hands, Christ and her husband enjoy playing with their pooch and enjoying time with friends on their boat.
“A lot of people don’t realize how beautiful it is here,” Christ said of La Porte’s many lakes, “I’m involved in so many things, that it’s nice to just spend time soaking up nature’s beauty.”
Christ’s love for her job, her family, and the Region shines through all the ways she finds to give back to the community.
