A LEAP Spotlight: Larson-Danielson Construction Company

For over 110 years, Larson-Danielson Construction Company has been a part of the La Porte community as both a business and other involvement with various organizations.

“We're a family-owned business, but the people are treated like family. We look at one another like family,” said Director of Preconstruction Services, Tony Oss

Larson-Danielson is entering its fifth year of leadership in the company. Throughout the years, Larson-Danielson has been a big part of the Laporte community.

“There's so much within the city of La Porte that we've been involved in. Whether it be construction of businesses or schools, there's so much of La Porte that Larson-Danielson is a part of and vice versa. We're a part of La Porte and La Porte is really a big part of who Larson-Danielson is,” said Oss

There are many struggles that Larson-Danielson has overcome, but there is nothing too difficult for the company to handle. Even when it comes to adapting to COVID-19, Larson-Danielson’s strong internal and external relationship can weather anything.

“We're fortunate that we were able to quickly adapt to COVID and move some people to remote work. We were a critical infrastructure throughout the pandemic. There were a lot of things we were working on that really had to keep going. As far as adapting to some of the problems and some of the hurdles we had to get over, I think a lot of that just has to do with our long-standing relationship, not only with suppliers and subcontractors, but the owners we work for. We've been around a long time and we've been successful for a long time. We've done that by maintaining strong relationships with our partners and they've trusted us and worked with us to help us get through everything together,” said Oss.

There are many new projects that Larson-Danielson has been working on. One new project for Larson-Danielson that was just built is the new health care foundation building in La Porte.

“We're really excited about the new health care foundation building in La Porte. That was a project that has just wrapped up within the last year. It is really a great community resource. Right now, we're working on the medical office building that's attached to the new Northwest Health Hospital. That's been a very significant project for us in the city of La Porte,” said Oss.

With so many big projects for Larson-Danielson comes many years of preparation and construction.

“Larger projects tend to run in the year to a year and a half range. If they're really large you might get into a two-year project. Larger projects like that take about a year to 18 months, but we also do projects that range all the way from one or two days. For some of our clients, maintenance projects, or repair projects all the way up to a year and a half or two yearlong projects,” said Oss

There is not one project that Larson-Danielson can’t handle. With a strong team of workers and partners, they can get anything done.

“We really stand behind our employees getting involved in as many projects as they can and try to get them to be a part of the community not only with the corporate support, but with the support of our employees during their own time too,” said Oss.
