Abby Bodinet possesses an inspiring journey of leaving behind her corporate job to pursue her passion for entrepreneurship. Through her company Bubble Trouble Foam Party, she has created a captivating experience filled with fun and excitement, appealing to audiences of all ages.
Bubble Trouble Foam Party specializes in hosting foam parties. These events give people the chance to dance to music on a dance floor covered in several feet of suds or bubbles, all dispensed from a foam machine.
“Bubble Trouble Foam Party has a foam cannon, and it’s like when you wash your hands and it becomes foam multiplied by a million. People love it,” said Bodinet. “You usually find it at the resorts in Cancun or Jamaica, but now that we have a portable machine, it could be in your backyard.”
Bodinet got the idea to create her foam party business after attending her granddaughter's fifth birthday. She was blown away by the entertainment presented, such as a petting zoo, pony rides, and delicious pizza. However, it was the foam party that truly caught her attention.
“It was an amazing party and we thought, ‘Okay, this party is over.’ They're packing up the animals, packing up the pizza guy, and then they start handing out glow necklaces,” said Bodinet. “Before I knew it, there was glow-in-the-dark foam, and it was so fun. I've never seen anything like it before.”
The spectacle of the foam party at her goddaughter's birthday ignited a creative spark within Bodinet that she pondered over for months. After much consideration, she eventually started her own foam party business.
“I thought about it all winter and then said, ‘You know what? We're going to do this,’” said Bodinet. “I bought my first machine in May. This is what we do, and we love it.”
After being employed in a corporate job for 18 years, Bodinet decided to take a leap of faith and create the Bubble Trouble Foam Party. The transition from corporate to owning her own business came easy to her as she feels she naturally has the mindset of a business owner.
“I ran a business, and I had a lot of business ideas,” said Bodinet. “I think it's just how I am naturally. I just have all these problem-solving thoughts, but it takes a lot of guts to own a business. When I came across this, it was a business that I felt had no risk.”
Bodinet's entrepreneurship goes beyond her foam party business; she demonstrates this by owning several different businesses creating different streams of income. Her ability to successfully manage multiple side businesses shows that she maximizes every opportunity given to her.
“I just do what I like,” said Bodinet. “I do what I love, so I started selling Paparazzi jewelry. I never expected to make any money through Paparazzi, but I did. I paid my car note for two years and bought all my Christmas gifts with $5 jewelry, and it's simply because I did something that I loved.”
One of the perks of being a business owner is that Bodinet can schedule her own time and calendar, which means she gets to spend more time participating in hobbies she loves such as spending time with her children.
“We have two kids that are 9 and 11, and they keep us busy with their school events, sports events, homework, and just trying to introduce them to new things. That keeps us busy,” said Bodinet.
She is happy with business and thankful for her husband as he helps her every step of the way.
“My husband is my greatest supporter,” said Bodinet. “We always work as a team. He jumped right in with my ideas, and it's crazy what we accomplished together. It's become better, and he's my greatest motivator.”
