A Northwest Indiana Life in the Spotlight: Gregory Lollis

Gregory Lollis is a salesman at the Ford in Merrillville. But this is not where he first started his career journey. After 20 years in the Steel industry, Lollis decided that it was time to try something new. This new thing turned out to be car sales.

“I retired from the steel industry and wanted something different. I decided to try my hand car sales and I liked it. I like dealing with all kinds of different people,” said Lollis.

Before going into car sales, Lollius had an interest in cars. And this job gave Lollis the great opportunity to be able to work with them all day.

“I've always liked cars and working on them and being around them. This gives me a chance to be around autos all the time. Now I can see what's new and what's out there in the car world,” said Lollis.

The biggest influence is Lollis’ life in his father who passed away 10 years ago.

“He influenced me to be a good dad in life and to stay busy and find things that I enjoy to do with my kids. My dad was always there for me when I was playing baseball growing up. Now I coach my kids all playing baseball and softball,” sadi Lollis.

Lollis loves to give back to his community. He has done this in many different ways like coaching for school sports, sat on boards of a couple different sport programs, and also he was a volunteer firefighter. Lollis was a volunteer firefighter from the time he was 18 to when he was 25 years old.

“I wanted to give back to my community and volunteer firefighting was a good way I saw to do it. I had a couple of friends that were in the volunteer department and I thought it was an interesting choice so I tried it and I really enjoyed it,” said Lollis.

Other than working for his community, Lollis also enjoys working with firearms. He hunts every now and then but he mostly enjoys shooting at targets.

“I have probably been around guns most of my life, and then I would say probably I got more serious with the hobby about 10 to 15 years ago,” said Lollis.

Lollis also enjoys keeping his yard nice and clean. Lollis loves to plant and mow in his backyard with the help from his wife. Lollis and his wife also love to travel together.

They both usually road trip their trips out. Lollis and his wife also love to go to different sports. Lollis loves to take road trips because he likes the surprise of different rest stops they get to stop at.

“I like to be able to stop wherever and if I see something on the road I want to go check out I can go do that,” said Lollis

Lollis is still working at Ford of Merrillville, and he loves the new adventures his job brings him everyday.
