A Northwest Indiana Life in the Spotlight: Jerod Bolt

Jerod Bolt is a singer-songwriter who starred on The Voice, and in 2019 was interviewed by CMT Television and was featured in Nashville Entertainment Weekly.

“I am originally from a small farm town of Starcity, Indiana, but my wife and I currently live in Lafayette, Indiana and Nashville, Tennessee. My hobbies range from hunting, hiking, camping, and fishing, to golf and smoking cigars, boating and snowmobiling, and spending time with my family,” Bolt said.

When not performing on stage, writing and recording, or building partnerships with other brands like Six Hats Supply Company, Country Artist, Bolt, is living his life to the fullest.

“I’m an independent country singer and songwriter in Nashville, Tennessee and record all of my songs there. Things that I like to do off stage are to just be outdoors with my family and make new memories. My go to happy place is a state park that is just south of where I live on a rock that sits a couple thousand feet high overlooking a body of water, where I sit and pray to clear my mind whenever life gets weird,” Bolt said.

Bolt is motivated to wake up every morning by learning something new each day.

“Meeting new goals and accomplishing new tasks, not knowing what the day may bring, and learning something new each day is a gift. I think it’s important to take advantage of the time we have to do good in the world because it makes each day unique and keeps me inspired,” Bolt said.

Bolt is also open to constantly adapting and not staying stagnant.

“Every day I seek self-improvement and believe there are always areas to grow and improve on, even when it feels like you’ve hit the ceiling. For me I am always looking for that better song to write or something to hit me that sparks a change. My mind is always going,” Bolt said.

Bolt says this is why it is important to keep growing in his field.

“For me it’s simply how I am hard-wired. Another reason is because I believe when you choose to sit back, there is always someone else working harder than you to achieve the dream that you want, especially in the music world. For me, I’m always searching for that better song to write, better song to sing, and to look back from year to year and see growth and positive change that leads to success,” Bolt said.

While building his catalog of new songs for upcoming releases in Nashville, Tennessee, Bolt is taking action with major artists such as Aaron Lewis, Brantley Gilbert, David Lee Murphy, Lee Greenwood, Jerrod Nieman, Neal McCoy, Jason Michael Carrol, Doug Stone and Shenandoah. Bolt has also performed back-to-back in 2018 and 2019 at the annual CMA Festival in Nashville.

Outside of the spotlight, Bolt also likes to help charities.

“Doing charities and helping organizations raise money for individuals or families in need would be at the top of the list. There is nothing more rewarding for me than using music to help others in need,” Bolt said.

Bolt feels this work is impactful since he’s making a difference.

“Because you know you are truly making a difference and it becomes very real when you see the impact it has on others. You don’t forget that and it becomes contagious,” Bolt said.

Bolt also said that he feels his music makes an impact on people's life in a more personal way.

“I like when people come up to me after a show and tell me how my song helped get them through a really tough time, or they can relate to my songs by sharing a story of theirs that is relative to my songs,” Bolt said.

Bolt was interviewed by CMT Television and featured in the Nashville Entertainment Weekly for a self-titled single, "One Prayer Away," that was written on behalf of a friend with whom he served with in the Marines.

Although Bolt is experiencing success in this field, the success doesn't matter to him. However, he doesn't plan to stop writing songs anytime soon.

“Music is a major part of who I am. I didn’t choose it, it chose me! There isn’t a minute in a day that my mind isn’t thinking of new song ideas or singing lines that hit me.” Bolt said.

Bolt, with his timeless and cutting-edge sounds, has made a name in Nashville, Tennessee while working alongside his producer (guitarist of Billy Ray Cyrus) as well as session players of: Luke Combs, Jake Owen, Josh Turner, Morgan Wallen, Kane Brown, Riley Green, Brett Eldredge, Love and Theft, Clint Black, Martina McBride and more.

His latest single "Different Kind of Sinner," was Bolt's first Nashville debut release back in June of 2021 and is the first of many to come. Bolt has been working on collaborations with bands. such as The Old Americana Band, that will feature him on an upcoming release.
