Taking another step toward building a better LaPorte on Wednesday afternoon, American Renolit Corporation (ARC) gifted Rebuilding Together LaPorte County (RTLC) a $2,500 check.
“I’m very proud that we can contribute to this community cause,” said ARC president Renaat Demeulemeester. “I think the entire team here in La Porte is excited to contribute to the event, as well.”
Demeulemeester and his team volunteered as builders during last year’s Rebuilding Day and plan to come out again this year.
“We will be volunteering again this year as a sponsor for the event and as a group of volunteers from the plant,” Demeulemeester said. “We are very excited to participate again this year!”
RTLC aims to rebuild both lives and neighborhoods, creating safe and welcoming homes for veterans, low-income homeowners, and senior citizens. The organization makes an incredible positive impact on the City of La Porte through its various year-round projects, and is grateful for the incredible support they receive.
“We very much appreciate the good support we’ve gotten from Renolit through the years, both financially and through people working on our projects,” said Dan Kaminski of RTLC. “It helps make La Porte a better place to live and work.”
The project began in LaPorte County just a few years ago, and has been making a difference ever since.
“Six years ago, a group of people joined and decided that they wanted to build the ReBuilding Together program into LaPorte County,” said RTLC board member Lynn Schukitis. “We had projects in several other locations, including Duneland and Valpo, and we decided La Porte was a community that could also benefit from the program.”
Proceeds from ARC’s generous contribution will go toward various pre-selected projects for this year’s ReBuilding Day, ranging from community projects to individual homeowners.
“This is an amazing help,” Schukitis said. “Without contributions, we could not do what we do.”
