American Senior Communities Plays Major Part in Success of Alzheimer’s Association Memory Walk®

The Alzheimer’s Association thanks American Senior Communities and all of its local facilities for their contributions to the 2009 Memory Walk and for raising more than $175,000 statewide.

Alzheimer’s disease is a growing epidemic that is now the seventh leading cause of death in the United States. It is estimated that someone in America develops Alzheimer's disease every 70 seconds. By mid-century someone will develop Alzheimer’s disease every 33 seconds.

Not only was American Senior Communities the Memory Walk’s Statewide Presenting Sponsor, they also brought out numerous walkers and raised a significant amount of funds. They had 40 teams that raised funds for the Greater Indiana Chapter of the Alzheimer's Association. Special thanks to the local ASC facility, Valparaiso Care & Rehabilitation Center, for their participation in this year’s Memory Walk.

“American Senior Communities has been a longtime supporter of the Alzheimer's Association,” Heather Hershberger, Executive Director of the Alzheimer’s Association Greater Indiana Chapter. "The efforts they have put into helping us is remarkable. We are extremely grateful for the support provided by American Senior Communities, and we look forward to working with them in the future to help those impacted by this disease.”
