Angel Food is a low-cost way to help your budget in these difficult economic times, as once a month families can purchase boxes of quality food at a discounted price. Various types of boxes are available, feeding families of four or kids after school or seniors looking for economic meals for one or two. The food is good quality and the prices are often half of what you would pay in a normal grocery.
In recent months, First United Methodist Church has begun hosting this important ministry. Here's how it works.
- Early in the month, you can access the menu and order form at the church website: http://www.portageumc.org/ or you can pick up a printed copy at the church. You place your order online ($2 convenience charge from Angel Food, not First UMC) or through the church office before the published deadline. Payment must be made when the order is placed.
- On the pick-up Saturday, you come to the church between 10:30 and 11:30 a.m., pick up your food. Any food not picked up between those hours is donated to local families in need as the church does not have room to store the food boxes long-term.
