ArtComp Call for Entries

chesterton-art-centerDuring the month of August, the Chesterton Art Center will be preparing for ArtComp, a juried exhibition of local artists. The show is open to all artists over the age of 18 who reside in Indiana, Illinois and Michigan. Work must be original in concept and execution, created within the past 2 years, not completed under instruction, and not previously exhibited at the Chesterton Art Center. No copies or prints, published photographs, or other artist's work will be accepted.

All work meant to hang on the wall must be fitted with wire - no sawtooth hangers are allowed. Sculptures must include an adequate base. The maximum size for 2-D work is 5' in any direction. 3-D work must not weigh more than 100 pounds. All entries must be ready for installation and must not require the artist's presence for hanging.

Each artist may submit up to 2 entries for a non-refundable entry fee of $30 ($25 for members of the Chesterton Art Center). Work may be dropped off at the Art Center from July 26 to August 9 with a completed entry form, entry fee, and appropriate labels on all submissions. The Art Center is open weekdays from 11-4, Saturdays from 10-3, and is closed on Sundays. The pieces will be juried the week of August 11. All work that is not juried into the exhibit must be picked up between August 18-23. A number of awards will be given, including Best in 2-D and Best in 3-D, with prize money totaling over $1500.

The ArtComp Opening Reception will take place on Sunday, August 31 from 2-4 pm. The show will be up on display from August 25 to September 27. The participating artists must retrieve their work between September 29 - October 4. The purpose of the show is to strengthen the development of individual artists, and to stimulate and expand the interest in the arts.
