Thursday, June 26 marks the official opening of this year’s Friends of the Library Book Sale. All proceeds go toward funding the La Porte County Public Library’s many important programs for the community. This year’s sale will be located at the former Sun Appliance building next to Arby’s at 1106 W State Road 2, La Porte, IN.
The Thursday sale, which will be from 3:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m., is only open to Friends of the Library members, but the sale will be open to the public on Friday from 8:00 a.m. to 7 p.m., Saturday from 8:00 a.m. to 6:00 p.m., and Sunday from 12:00 p.m. to 5:00 p.m. Adult hardbacks are $1.00; adult paperbacks are $0.50; children’s hardbacks are $0.50; and children’s paperbacks are $0.25. If you want access to the Thursday sale, you can buy a membership before Thursday for $8 or at the door for $10.
Free boxes of books will be given away on Sunday, June 29, from 3:30 p.m. to 5:00 p.m. for any residents who want to use the books for crafting. When you are finished with your craft, send a picture of it to friendsoflaplib@gmail.com. A panel of judges will choose 10 crafters to sell their items in November at the library’s main branch. Although there will be a $50 entry fee to secure a booth, all revenue generated from the sale of craft items will go directly to the crafter.
