Boys & Girls Clubs of Porter County’s Discovery Charter School Kidstop site recently was accepted into the membership of Boys & Girls Clubs of America and now is entitled to all rights and privileges as an extension of Boys & Girls Clubs of Porter County. To be considered a chartered extension Club, a site must have a minimum of 50 registered Club members, remain open a minimum of three hours per day providing scheduled activities for youth served three days per week, and be open for youth eight months during the year.
Boys & Girls Clubs of Porter County operates nine Kidstop sites in three school corporations – all now recognized as a chartered extension Club by Boys & Girls Clubs of America.
“As an affiliated member of Boys & Girls Clubs of America, Clubs across the United States must meet several requirements to stay in good standing with our national organization. Our four Clubs in Chesterton, Portage, South Haven, and Valparaiso – and now each of our nine Kidstop sites – are chartered Clubs. We are very proud of this accomplishment. The standards necessary to be a chartered Club with our national organization help the Boys & Girls Clubs Movement, as a whole, thrive and strengthen our efforts to serve young people,” states Mark Jones, director of operations for Boys & Girls Clubs of Porter County.
