Good Character & Citizenship, leadership, and the democratic process is the doctrine of Boys & Girls Clubs of Porter County’s Torch Clubs! Torch Clubs allow youth to provide service to their communities, as well as learn the democratic process of which the United States was built.
On June 28, 2015, South Haven Club’s Torch Club members, along with Kristen Baker, Torch Club advisor, took a trip to the Indianapolis, IN touring the capitol building. Torch Club members learned much history about the state of Indiana and also learned more about the legislative, executive, and judicial branches of government.
“This trip was not only to allow our Club members to have fun, but to expand their horizons outside of their local neighborhoods and experience the historic information they learned about our great state of Indiana,” states Kristen Baker, Torch Club advisor.
After the tour of the state capitol building, Torch Club members enjoyed a delicious meal at the Hard Rock Café!
