Boys & Girls Clubs will “light up La Porte County for great futures”

A local nonprofit is hoping to help make the community a little brighter this holiday season. Boys & Girls Clubs of La Porte County (BGCLPC) recently kicked off its "Light Up La Porte County for Great Futures" fundraising initiative. Between now and October 29, all individuals and businesses making a donation of $100 or more will receive a string of blue lights to display during the month of December.

BGCLPC provides youth development programming that supports Academic Success, Character & Citizenship and Healthy Lifestyles. All services are offered completely free of charge. After 25 years of operation in Michigan City, BGCLPC recently launched a school-based Club in the Town of Westville. On October 25, the organization will add a fifth Club at Kingsford Heights Elementary School, and anticipates continued expansion in conjunction with its upcoming capital campaign.

"Over the past year, our dedicated staff, volunteers and community partners have been exploring how we might be able to expand our reach throughout La Porte County," says Michelle Shirk, Chief Executive Officer. "This fall, we took the first steps towards making this vision a reality. Our "Light Up La Porte County for Great Futures" initiative will allow us to replace some of the special event revenue we have lost during the pandemic, while helping us raise awareness about our Clubs throughout La Porte County."

Individuals and businesses interested in participating can pick up a donation form at BGCLPC's Charles R. Westcott Club at 321 Detroit Street in Michigan City, or give online at https://secure.qgiv.com/for/lulpc. Lights will be delivered during the month of November. Community members are welcome to contact the Club at (219) 873-2298 regarding questions or special requests.

Boys & Girls Clubs of La Porte County is a member of Boys & Girls Clubs of America, a nationwide affiliation of 4,100 autonomous Club organizations. For more information about BGCLPC and its programming, please visit www.bgclpc.org.
