Café Tradition Puts PCACS in Spotlight

Porter County Aging and Community Services will benefit from many meals throughout the month of May as Campbell Street Café continues its charitable tip tradition.

The café, owned and operated by Pines Village Retirement Communities, will donate all of the tips earned by its employees during May to PCACS. As a non-profit organization, Pines Village decided to permit the café employees to accept tips on behalf of charitable organizations.

“Patrons of the café wanted to give tips for the service – that is just normal,” said Amy Page, director of public relations at Pines Retirement Village Communities. “This is our way of supporting organizations that have an impact on the lives of older adults, which is always part of our mission.”

Beyond the donation, PCACS Executive Director Bruce Lindner believes awareness is a key element of being in the café’s spotlight.

“The program is very much appreciated by me and PCACS as it brings attention to our different services to many different people,” Lindner said. “Being featured at the café for an entire month paves the way for additional community support.”

Page also sees the donation program as a way to recognize how senior agencies are helping the community.

“These are wonderful programs that are an asset to our community,” Page said. “PCACS provides transportation services that are so needed and the organization goes above and beyond and stays true to its mission so people can age in place.

“It may not be huge dollar amounts, but it’s from the heart.”

To support PCACS through tips in May, enjoy breakfast, lunch or a snack at the Campbell Street Café from 7 a.m. to 2 p.m. Monday through Friday. The café is located in the Meridian Woods neighborhood off Campbell Street, 4245 Meridian Woods Drive, in Valparaiso. For more information or to view a menu, visit www.pinesvillage.org.

PCACS’ mission is to extend a helping hand to seniors, those who are disabled and low-income residents by providing services to improve their quality of life.
