The start of 2025 has been a whirlwind of excitement, connections, and incredible moments that have reinforced why I love what I do. From inspiring interviews to community events, professional growth, and personal challenges, this year has already been filled with meaningful experiences. As I celebrate 12 years with GreatNews.Life, I can’t help but reflect on the journey that has brought me here and the amazing people who continue to shape my path.
Empowering Conversations and Lifelong Friendships
One of the highlights of this year already has been hosting two extraordinary women on the All About the Girls (AATG) podcast. Dr. Regina Beard of Victory 4 Kidz and Marci Taylor from We Bossy Productions & WSMK Radio are true powerhouses, creating remarkable change in their communities. Their stories of resilience, leadership, and passion were a reminder of why I love highlighting stories that inspire others.
Since we are talking AATG already, our alumni group recently gathered at Industrial Revolution — the very site where it all began. It was a full-circle moment to reflect on the impact of this event and the community of strong, driven women it continues to foster. As we officially announce our next event for June 12, 2025, I am more excited than ever for what’s to come!
Exploring Michiana and Beyond
Michiana has truly become a second home for me. As we continue to grow our newest positive news platform, Michiana.Life, I have had the opportunity to explore and appreciate some of my favorite local spots: both locations of Chicory Café, the stunning main branch of the St. Joe County Library, the Mishawaka Library, and the gorgeous downtown areas that make for perfect mid-day walks.
I also had the chance to check out the Mishawaka Fieldhouse with the South Bend Chamber and meet Darla from First State Bank. Their locations in Goshen and Middlebury are not only stunning but also full of history.
Beyond Michiana, I took a much-needed midwinter break in San Diego with some of my closest friends, the Birkbecks. They have been a constant source of guidance, laughter, and support since my pre-college years, and while San Diego isn’t where I’d want to live, the time spent with great humans was absolutely worth it.
Community Engagement and Exciting Projects
This year, I have had the privilege of meeting some incredible leaders and professionals. Through the AMA Michiana group, I’ve connected with inspiring individuals like Paula Sours, Keith Sayer, and Jay Mattern. Their dedication to the marketing and business community fuels my passion for storytelling and communication. I look forward to becoming even more involved in the year ahead.
In addition, I met Jerry Czarnecki, the new leader of the Portage Chamber, who will certainly make a lasting impact on the city’s growth. I have also gained a new appreciation for Deep River Waterpark — yes, it’s truly "splashtastic" — as we prepare for an exciting summer of coverage. And let’s not forget our Student Voices program, which continues to bring in talented young storytellers who are shaping the future of journalism.
I also had the wonderful opportunity to teach a Social Media Bootcamp in La Porte for a group of local business owners through the LaPorte Economic Advancement Partnership (LEAP). It was incredibly rewarding to share insights and strategies with business leaders eager to grow their digital presence. Seeing their enthusiasm and engagement reminded me why I love helping businesses amplify their stories through the power of social media.
Celebrating Milestones and Taking on New Challenges
As I reminisce on 12 years with GreatNews.Life, I think back to some of my favorite interviews, from Joe De Sena, CEO of Spartan Race, to country artist Jonny James. Each conversation has been a learning experience and a chance to share uplifting stories that matter.
We also recently celebrated the Go Red campaign with Dave Brubaker and his team at Team Chevy. Their dedication to spreading awareness and making real change is truly inspiring.
On a personal level, I am pushing myself in new ways. I stepped out of my comfort zone and applied to speak at several women’s conferences in the coming year — an exciting (and nerve-wracking) step forward! Additionally, I’ve decided to take my running journey to the next level by signing up for a half marathon in 2025. It’s a challenge, but if the past 12 years have taught me anything, it’s that perseverance and passion can take you anywhere.
Looking Ahead With Gratitude
As I take a moment to reflect, I am filled with gratitude. I am grateful for the incredible people I meet, the communities that welcome GreatNews.Life with open arms, and the support we receive from those who believe in the power of good news. I am beyond thankful for my team and their dedication to sharing positive stories that uplift and inspire.
Looking back at my 12 years with .Life, I see how much I have grown, learned, and how excited I am for everything I will continue to learn in the future. This journey has been full of challenges, triumphs, and unforgettable moments, and I wouldn't trade it for anything.
And the best part? It’s not even March yet! There’s so much more ahead, and I can’t wait to see where this journey takes me next.
Here’s to the good—always.
