Center for Hospice Care Announces New Board Member Dr. Dale Patterson

Center for Hospice Care – a not-for-profit, community-based organization – announces a new member to its Board of Directors. Dr. Dale Patterson is an esteemed regional leader, selected to serve alongside an already impressive list of current members. He will be joining officers Board Chair Kurt Janowsky, Vice-Chair Kevin Murphy, Secretary Roland W. Chamblee, Jr., and Treasurer Brian Huber, MD. The remaining members for 2023 are Jeff Bernel, Andy Murray, Jodi Spataro, Diane Krill, Terry Rodino, and Mary Newbold (Chair of Hospice Foundation).

Dr. Patterson was named President of Beacon Medical Group in 2023.  He previously served as Vice President of Medical Affairs at Memorial Hospital of South Bend.  He was Chair of the Beacon COVID Task Force and served on the COVID-19 Response/Unified Command of the St. Joseph County Health Department. 

Dr. Patterson graduated from the Memorial Hospital Family Medicine Residency program in 2000 and returned in 2007 as their Associate Director.  From 2010-2018, he served as the Residency’s Program Director.  Dr. Patterson received his Bachelor of Science degree from the University of Michigan and a Doctorate of Medicine from Michigan State University.  He went on to receive his Master of Science degree in Healthcare Quality and Patient Safety from Northwestern University.

Dr. Patterson shared that his uncle was a doctor and when he was young, he would follow him around and learn from him. He said that is when he first understood how meaningful the relationship was between people and their family doctor. Dr. Patterson runs in his spare time. He has competed in the Boston Marathon six times since 2007.
