The CertaPro Painters of Northwest Indiana team recently gathered at its Crown Point office for their annual Spring Kickoff event, a tradition that brings employees together for education, networking, and industry updates.
The event provided valuable insights for everyone in attendance. Team members received key industry statistics that will influence operations in the coming months and had the opportunity to test new and improved products firsthand.
Mark Powers, Vice President of Operations at CertaPro Painters of Northwest Indiana, emphasized the significance of the event in setting the tone for the upcoming season.
“This event is essentially our kickoff to the season ahead,” Powers said. “We analyze industry trends, review the past year, and prepare for what’s to come.”
Staying up to date with industry advancements is a priority for CertaPro. The team has even traveled across the country to enhance their skills and adopt new strategies, while attending their annual conference in Carlsbad, CA.
“We attended our annual conference this past January,” Powers said. “We take what we learn there and apply it to our work, whether it be market trends, best practices, or insurance coverage requirements. From there, we refine our focus for 2025.”
While CertaPro Painters franchise operates in 45 states, the Northwest Indiana team takes pride in its connection to the local community.
“Helping our local community is one of the most rewarding parts of working for CertaPro,” Powers said. “Each market is unique, and we take pride in understanding and meeting the specific needs of Northwest Indiana.”
The event was not only about business planning but also about fostering camaraderie among team members who don’t always have the chance to connect. Field Service Manager Mike Cintron sees the gathering as an important team-building opportunity.
“We have a meeting every Wednesday morning,” Cintron said. “Normally, it’s just job site supervisors, but this event allows us to bring everyone together, enjoy some food, and outline our plans for the season.”
For longtime team member Rafael Herrera, the event serves as a key networking opportunity.
“We are always asking questions and learning from each other,” Herrera said. “This event is a great time to exchange ideas and catch up on both work and our personal matters.”
John Jordan, owner of CertaPro Painters of Northwest Indiana, recognizes the seasonal nature of the business and the importance of preparation as warmer weather approaches.
“This event helps us build momentum as we head into peak painting season,” Jordan said. “It’s an opportunity to set new goals, refine business strategies, and ensure continuous improvement. Expanding our reach and strengthening our operations is always a priority.”
Special guests from Sherwin-Williams, including Sales Representative Mike Paduch and Assistant Marketing Manager Nancy Ramirez, spoke at the event. They covered best practices for handling orders, introduced new paint products, and discussed topics such as moisture meters, pressure washing, and stain longevity.
Attendees also enjoyed a meal from Gelsosomo’s Pizzeria, rounding out the event with good food and great company.
