Chaosium, Inc., the award-winning game company founded in 1975, has generously donated books and multiple starter sets of their acclaimed role-playing games—Call of Cthulhu, RuneQuest, and Pendragon—to Valparaiso University’s new Center for Games and Interactive Entertainment.
Michael O’Brien, Vice President of Chaosium, commented on the donation: “Chaosium is pleased to support the Center for Games and Interactive Entertainment at Valparaiso University. We hope the materials we’ve provided will inspire and benefit students, and help foster a new generation of talented game creators.”
Professor Martin Buinicki, Director of the Center, expressed his appreciation: “These games are terrific additions to the Center’s library. Not only are they engaging and fun, but their rich foundations in literature and history make them valuable resources for both students and faculty. Exploring how games represent art and culture is central to the Center’s mission, and these materials are a tremendous help. I’m excited about the opportunities for future collaborations with Chaosium’s outstanding leadership team.”
The Center for Games and Interactive Entertainment, which opened in February with support from the Ball Venture Fund, is housed in the Valparaiso University Center for the Arts (VUCA). The Center offers a space for students and visitors to play, study, and create games of all types—from card games to digital experiences.
