Chesterton High School All-State Orchestra

All-State-OrchestraThe Chesterton High School Orchestra program was proud to have three students perform in the Indiana All-State Orchestra this past weekend. Pictured left to right, senior violinist Alisha Dziarski, freshman cellist Andrew Smenyak, and junior violinist Elena Levi represented CHS alongside 80 of the top high school musicians in the state. The students are selected for this group by recorded audition.

Samuel Barber’s “Symphony No. 1” and Christopher Theofanidis’s “Rainbow Body” was performed under the baton of guest conductor Michael Boitz. Boitz, an orchestra director from Saratoga, California, spent Thursday and Friday rehearsing with the orchestra before the performance Saturday afternoon. The All-State Orchestra is one of many ensembles that performed at the Indiana Music Education Association Convention this past weekend at the Grand Wayne Convention Center in Fort Wayne, Indiana.
